Marui Weaving
Toray gave us unprecedented access to their factories for a special series of Behind The Seams. KUIU Founder Jason Hairston visits Toray’s partner factory Marui Weaving, in Nakanoto, Japan. Toray fibers are individually separated and robotically sorted into large spools to prepare them for weaving, and brought to the looms, which eliminate mechanical wefts and use jets of water and air to carry the woven fibers across the warp direction.
