"From the appearance I'd have thought it would perform great, but it did not keep my gear dry in the rain. Only the bottom is waterproof, the rest is just "resistant. " It's not like I was rafting with it, so I would have expected higher resistance. It also picked up a few scratches on the flight home while another ripstop duffel is fine. Internal design is good for organization though. Removable straps a good feature."

Great Duffel

"Bought this to take on a hunting trip in the Canadian Arctic Circle. It held the clothing and gear I wanted to take and didn’t trigger any attempts by the airlines to try to charge an oversized bag fee (which is one of the reasons I bought it as its measurements keep it right at the max size which the airlines accept without extra fees). It is quite sturdy and protected my clothes and gear from light exposure to water."

Can the 5500 be a carryon bag for airlines
The 5500 will be too large for a carry on. We would recommend the 2800 instead
