Needs some upgrades for the price…

"I returned mainly because the zipper was stitched crooked. But I also didn’t feel like it was higher quality than Patagonia which I am used to. I thought the zipper wasn’t going to hold up well. I prefer black over charcoal and I don’t like that the logo is just printed and not stitched. I think the logo will eventually start rubbing off. Love KUIU brand but I prefer Patagonia to this product."

The good and the bad

"There are good things about this jacket, but also some disappointments. It is super light weight, it is cut trim so it will layer, and it is warm for a jacket. Remember, it is a jacket and not a coat. Not the same. All of this is good stuff. Now for the bad. What 2X people did you measure to get your neck measurements? This zipper won’t even start to zip all the way up, because the neck opening isn’t big enough for a 2X guy. Not even close. This happens some with cheap Chinese made stuff, but I didn’t expect this when I purchased a premium made in the USA item. Come on Kuiu, if you are going to make 2X and 3X sizes for us big boys, do your homework so it will fit real people. In cold weather, it is so much better do have that insulation completely covering your neck. It makes a huge difference in warmth. For the price, this jacket should be better."

Light and super warm

"This may be the best jacket I've owned. It weighs next to nothing but does a great job of blocking wind and holding in the heat. We've had some negative temperatures here recently and it has not let me down. If it's above 20 degrees I usually need to unzip a little to not get too hot."

Down LT Jacket

"Comftorble jacket, it's warm but $400 warm idk. . Down is appearing through seams of jacket, finding feathers here and there. Logo and size description peeling and falling off interior of collar of jacket. I really wanted to love this jacket spent weeks researching a good down insulating layer. I appreciate that it's lite but durability is an issue. I have used it for mostly city walks with my dog. Haven't taken it camping yet."

"Can’t stress enough how lite and packable this jacket is, with that said it does its job very well to keep you warm. I have worn it an an outer layer in below zero temps and used it as an under layer while sitting in a tree. I bought a large, runs a bit smaller than what I would call a normal large. Buy it."

I like it

"Very lightweight. It doesn’t get extremely cold where I live, but I can say it is a warm jacket with a light base layer at 25-30 degrees fahrenheit. Not too shiny, not too loud. I bought in black color for casual wear. It is long enough to cover my waist without being awkwardly long. I am 5-11 and 185lbs. Large fits me well with a t shirt, light sweater, or hoodie as a base layer. I like it."

Down fill, Does Kuiu increase the amount of down by size for this jacket like the Burner coat? i purchased the super down pant years ago and didn't realize that a medium and a 2XL have the same amount of down in each piece. I am reluctant to purchase another down piece if the amount of down doesn't increase by clothing size. I am sure the medium is a very warm piece but the 2 XL does not come close to warmth. I have purchased many items from Kuiu and except for insulated clothing. I recently bought a competitors puffy for warm but would like to also purchase a Kuiu down puffy if the piece has additional down.
Fill is increased by size, to ensure consistent warmth between sizes.
