"I returned the pack because it didn’t suit my needs how I thought it would, so my review is more of an unboxing. But the pack is very well made, even shoulder straps (I hate that has become something I have to check, thanks GR for always messing that up), and very comfortable. Excellent build quality and harness system."
Great pack but noisy
"I got this as a take-everywhere daypack and I love it. It’s got great features and carries so nice I forget it’s there. Two drawbacks though. It’s really loud. The shoulder straps rub on the waist band and make a creaking noise. No desire to take it archery hunting with that much noise. After a day of shed hunting it had me about to lose my mind hearing it constantly. I wrapped tape around the shoulder straps which dampened it quite a bit. A different fabric on the waist strap at the contact point would easily fix it. I usually don’t get worked up about gear making noise but this would annoy anyone. Also, the main pocket zipper really fights you. Feels like I’m going to pull it off every time. Resolve those two things and it really would be the perfect day pack."

"This is a great day pack. shoulder straps are thick. And it’s a stable fit on your back. Hardly know it’s on there. Small enough You won’t load it with stuff you don’t need. Big enough to fit the stuff you need. Has a place for walking sticks, and a place for binos. All in all very happy with my purchase."
Bad Design for water bladder!
"Overall happy except one major thing. The KUIU branded Platypus water bladder bite tube with a cover doesn't fit through the designed opening. What's the point of having an opening if it doesn't accommodate a product they specifically sell with their logo on it! Disappointed! Called CS and they want me to send them a picture of it not fitting, really??"

Great pack on first trip. A couple suggestions
"Love this pack so far. First trip was an Alaska vacation with some hiking. No hard-core hunting yet. Bought this pack due to its mid-size, removable hip belt and many zippered pockets. All those delivered what I expected. You can never have too many zippered pockets in a pack! 2 suggestions. I'm a little worried about durability on the side / water bottle pockets. I'm someone who hates water bladders and always carry nalgenes in those pockets. They hold very well but mesh it a little light. The 2 little Kuiu label straps on the front on the shoulder straps are a great place to hang your bear spray or similar items. Problem is. . . they're at an angle and make those items hang crooked and bounce around funny. Change them so they are straight across!"

"After packing it as full as possible for shore fishing, day hunting, over night camping, shed hunting/wildlife photography, go now emergency evacuation bag & bugout bag, it falls slightly short of all of them with the space taken by a 3 liter camelbak. Nearly everything I carry must be carried internally to be secured & out of the elements & cant be strapped outside the pack, besides tripod, elk bugle call, ultra light tent, & treking poles. I still like it & keeping it, but even with the frame removed, it still fell slightly short of my needs & I had to buy additional web gear pouches to attach to it. Its now my light day pack with dedicated knife, multi tool, flashlight, pocket camera, binos, light rain jacket, & beanie/hat for PNW weather unpredictability. I do love the slim, tall style for dense bush whacking & removable waist belt & removable ultra light frame tho. Great designs in the features, but just about an inch or 2 too thin. If I didn't know about add on/custom web gear pouches, the pack would not work for me. Great pack for most casual users, but I live for the outdoors & spend allot of time in it & know what I cant go without in most day trips when I dont want to take my large back country hunting pack. Your other packs that would work are just too expensive & there are cheaper options with same quality. Still happy to own this pack. Cant hate on it for what it is"
Q&A
- Trying to decide on the size of the Ranger 2200, medium or large. I'm 5' 9" with an 18" torso, 43 chest, weight 185. Also, is the 22" frame height the medium or large?
- You will want to go with the Medium size based on your height. The Medium is 22" and the Large is 24" tall
- Can this pack out elk quarters?
- It would not be the best choice for elk quarters as you would have to de-bone the meat and the pack is only rated to carry about 45lbs. A better option would be our Pro, Pro LT or Pro Divide Packs
- Is the only difference between the medium and large the size of the belt? I'm 6' even, but fairly slender, so don't need the extra length on the waist
- The main difference will be between the height of the bags. The Large is about 2" taller than the Medium
- If I am 5'9" and a half, should I order large or medium? Thanks!
- We would recommend going with Large
