Reviews

Pretty good pack, the frame

"Pretty good pack, the frame is a big improvement over the Venture series. Design/layout is good and the material and construction seems solid. I've taken it on a handful of hunts in rugged terrain and some hikes on an active volcano with lots of fresh sharp lava rock and it still looks brand new. My biggest complaint (which is true with all of the Kuiu day packs I've tried) is that the frame extends several inches below the waist belt, and the bag then ends up riding on the top of my butt. I hate that feeling so I have gravitated towards other bags instead and mainly use this for cold weather days when clothing prevents the uncomfortable ride."

Excellent Lightweight Daypack

"Got the Ranger 2200 to use as a lightweight day hiking and scouting pack. What I really like is the streamlined simplicity and low weight. It has every thing I need and nothing I don’t. Hip belt pockets easily fit large smart phone or small binos. Pack is plenty comfortable with my typical day loads of 20 to 30 pounds. I am 5’ 9” with 18 in torso and the medium fits perfectly, like it’s a custom fit! I believe the Large is sized 2” taller. So if torso is less than 19” go with medium, if 19 or greater than large. I have 35 waist and the medium belt fits well with about 6” of strap left on either side of buckle when cinched down. If there was the possibility of having to pack out an animal, I’d go with a full frame pack like an Icon. For general hiking, scouting, recon, this pack is an excellent choice!"

Great Quality

"I used this for a pre-hunting ruck workout over the weekend. My shoulders have never felt so good wearing a pack! Perfect weight placement over my hips and lots of ways to keep the load from shifting. Great product overall!"

I returned the pack because

"I returned the pack because it didn’t suit my needs how I thought it would, so my review is more of an unboxing. But the pack is very well made, even shoulder straps (I hate that has become something I have to check, thanks GR for always messing that up), and very comfortable. Excellent build quality and harness system."

Good pack, love the zippers

"Good pack, love the zippers on the Ranger. The only thing I do not like is the DAISY-CHAIN COMPRESSION STRAPS."

— adam o. (4/5)

Great pack but noisy

"I got this as a take-everywhere daypack and I love it. It’s got great features and carries so nice I forget it’s there. Two drawbacks though. It’s really loud. The shoulder straps rub on the waist band and make a creaking noise. No desire to take it archery hunting with that much noise. After a day of shed hunting it had me about to lose my mind hearing it constantly. I wrapped tape around the shoulder straps which dampened it quite a bit. A different fabric on the waist strap at the contact point would easily fix it. I usually don’t get worked up about gear making noise but this would annoy anyone. Also, the main pocket zipper really fights you. Feels like I’m going to pull it off every time. Resolve those two things and it really would be the perfect day pack."

Ranger 2200

"This is a great day pack. shoulder straps are thick. And it’s a stable fit on your back. Hardly know it’s on there. Small enough You won’t load it with stuff you don’t need. Big enough to fit the stuff you need. Has a place for walking sticks, and a place for binos. All in all very happy with my purchase."

— Devan Z. (5/5)

Bad Design for water bladder!

"Overall happy except one major thing. The KUIU branded Platypus water bladder bite tube with a cover doesn't fit through the designed opening. What's the point of having an opening if it doesn't accommodate a product they specifically sell with their logo on it! Disappointed! Called CS and they want me to send them a picture of it not fitting, really??"

— Julie E. (4/5)

Great pack

"Love this pack. Lightweight and not bulky. Has good storage compartments. Well thought out. Perfect for 2 day Montana elk hunts 👍"

— Mike R. (5/5)

I haven't used it yet,

"I haven't used it yet, this the 4 stars. I use a venture 2300 it's 5 stars so I'm sure this one will be also.."

Q&A

Will the outer straps support attaching climbing sticks, and a saddle hunting platform?
Depending on the weight of the items it could
What is the weight capacity of this pack?
It is rated to carry about 45 lbs
Whether I choose a medium or a large; that is just the straps to buckle it correct? Not the over all size of the pack?
The Large size is about 2" taller than the Medium
I like the ash color but it looks more like a dark shade of green to me. Is the color in the picture accurate?
Yes Ash is a green, but will have some hues of brown as well depending on the lighting
