"I’ve been hunting Canada for for more than 20 years and I have been using Raven wear products and have then satisfied with all except the belaclava and hats. I bought kuiu beanie and balaclava for my upcoming trip and I think this will be what I have been wanting for year. Belaclava does not rotate over my eye when turning my head like other brands and the beanie is awesome. The fit is perfect and very comfortable covering my entire head."

"Great hunting gear doesn’t need to look spectacular to be impressive. Sometimes the most thoughtful designs are the ones that quietly focus on what really matters. That’s exactly my experience so far with the KUIU Proximity Balaclava in Veros. What initially surprised me was its understated appearance. It doesn’t look like bulky extreme winter equipment, yet its ability to retain warmth is genuinely impressive. My first impression indoors was already extremely positive. But equipment deserves to be judged where it actually matters: outside. I have now worn the balaclava outdoors in temperatures around 8°C (46°F), with windy conditions. Even in that environment, it kept me remarkably warm, just as it had indoors. What I particularly appreciate is the combination of an unobtrusive appearance and convincing thermal comfort. For hunting, where long periods of limited movement can make staying warm particularly challenging, that is exactly the kind of performance I look for. Of course, temperatures around 8°C are only the beginning. I’m especially interested in seeing how it performs during longer sessions in freezing conditions, stronger winds, and the demanding cold of winter. I believe good outdoor equipment should earn its reputation through real experience rather than marketing promises. So far, the Proximity Balaclava has made an excellent impression, and I’m genuinely looking forward to testing its limits as the season progresses. KUIU has certainly raised my expectations with this one. If its winter performance matches these promising early experiences, it could easily become an essential part of my cold-weather hunting setup."

"Great product; I have other Kuiu Balaclavas but I ordered the Proximity for a Jan 2027 Wolf hunt in northern NWT. It will be a snowmobile hunt out on the ice with possible -40 degree temps. Just what I need along with my Kuiu Burner Parka."

"Used for deer hunting and shooting matches in the winter. Really nice, warm head wrap. We sat in a stand for 6 hours in almost zero degree weather. By the end I did have to throw my hood up along with it but my head was never really cold. Well worth the money."
"I bought this to go with the proximity set for windy cold weather. It is warm and it fits excellent just like the rest of the proximity set. But just like the rest of the set, it is crinkly sounding with movement. When you put this on, all you hear is the crinkle sound in your ears with any movement of your head. Even though animals may not hear it, it’s all you can hear with any movement, so I only used it for about five minutes and I had to remove it. If they change the outer material to something quiet, it would be an excellent balaclava."
"Nice and thick. Extremely warm and can verify it’s windproof. Was going about 20 mph in 0 degree weather and it kept my head warm! Only minor inconvenience is that it’s hard to breathe through if there’s no air flow."
