Amazing Products from Kuiu

"Just received my Pro Hooded Jacket and headed to the country tomorrow hunting. Weather is getting cooler and wet here in Atlantic Canada so this jacket is going to get tested for its warmth and for being water proof. I normally take a Large but I am in between sizes so find it better to up size. I just find Kuiu runs a bit smaller as I have many of their products. I just wish there was a store in Eastern Canada."

Well designed

"Although I haven't had the opportunity to use this jacket in the frigid conditions I bought it for it seems like it should be warm. I like the sleeve design that you can raise your arms over your head and the body doesn't ride up. I wish the shell was a quieter material. I tried it on over my Superdown LT and a midweight base layer and the fit was great. I would give it 5 stars if it had a couple more pockets and was quieter."

Best jacket

"This is absolutely the best active hunting jacket i own from kuiu. I walked 20 miles in it with 10” of snow and sleet and never got wet or cold. At one point it was a whiteout and I was super comfortable. It got to the low 20s and I packed out a bull and never was uncomfortable."

"About time water"proof: wind"proof" utilized i can't believe getting highest review...the outer material is noisy. When the super down jacket came out in noise proof cloth a year after I purchased it was very disappointed! I guess we'll see if you now bring it out noiseless outer cloth and disappointed me again. Seems warm but I won't know till cool. Other than noisy seems like a really good jacket."

"Purchased before back country hunt in Montana. Wore it one day that was below freezing with a fleece jacket under it, to bulky. the next day wore with normal layers, was above freezing. Got to mountain top 35-40 Degrees with 40+ ml. an hour winds. Had hunting buddy's in valley chasing trophy size elk. We seen go in there the night before. I set on an exit point for over 8 hours. My face was wind burned. The coat kept me quite warm. Defiantly glad I had it. Only piece of new equipment, I bought, for trip. Glad, I did."

I have the Axis Hybrid jacket with the strong fleece as a mid layer for mountain hunting. How does this jacket compare to that system? Are the differences large enough to justify that expense in closet space?
The Mountain Pro Hooded Jacket is a great all around jacket! It is 100% waterproof while the Axis Hybrid Hooded Jacket has waterproof paneling in key areas. The Mountain Pro Hooded Jacket is also warmer than the Strongfleece and Axis Jacket paired together.
How waterproof is this jacket? Will it withstand a torrential downpour all day long? And are the zipper areas waterproof as well? I'm thinking about purchasing this to replace my Grundens Buoy X jacket. That jacket has an issue with the zippers leaking water when in a downpour.
It is not as waterproof as some of our other rain jackets like the Chugach TR and Yukon TR, but does a great job as an all around jacket in the mountains! The zippers are YKK zippers, but they are rated as very water resistant, not waterproof
How quiet is the outer fabric on this compared to other Kuiu jackets?
The Mountain PRO Hooded Jacket is a waterproof jacket so it does have some noise compared to our soft shell or fleece items. It is however quieter than a good majority of the other waterproof jackets on the market
