I have the Axis Hybrid jacket with the strong fleece as a mid layer for mountain hunting. How does this jacket compare to that system? Are the differences large enough to justify that expense in closet space?
The Mountain Pro Hooded Jacket is a great all around jacket! It is 100% waterproof while the Axis Hybrid Hooded Jacket has waterproof paneling in key areas. The Mountain Pro Hooded Jacket is also warmer than the Strongfleece and Axis Jacket paired together.
How waterproof is this jacket? Will it withstand a torrential downpour all day long? And are the zipper areas waterproof as well? I'm thinking about purchasing this to replace my Grundens Buoy X jacket. That jacket has an issue with the zippers leaking water when in a downpour.
It is not as waterproof as some of our other rain jackets like the Chugach TR and Yukon TR, but does a great job as an all around jacket in the mountains! The zippers are YKK zippers, but they are rated as very water resistant, not waterproof
How quiet is the outer fabric on this compared to other Kuiu jackets?
The Mountain PRO Hooded Jacket is a waterproof jacket so it does have some noise compared to our soft shell or fleece items. It is however quieter than a good majority of the other waterproof jackets on the market
