Great Canadian fishing jacket

"Haven’t worn it yet in conditions for which I bought it, but already I can tell it will fit better than the high end competitors equivalent. Storm Shell is longer in the back and should eliminate rain getting in between the jacket and pants. Storm Shell construction seems fist rate and I am sure it will work well."

Same old greatness

"Very well made piece of gear, as per usual from Kuiu. I am 5/9 and 160 with 40 inch chest. This can layer over a puffy comfortably and seems like I can make it work for all but the hottest weather - for most of my climates, I prefer the durability over the lightest weight. I have never regretted any purchase from this company."

Packable Rain Jacket for Montana SAR Ops

"The jacket fits and feels great. The jacket is lightweight and the fabric is comfortable and not what I expected out of a rain shell. I have already had the opportunity to use it in some heavy rain, and it kept me dry and comfortable. The zippered vents helped manage body heat very well. I purchased the jacket for SAR operations in southcentral Montana, and so far this is exactly what I needed."

For the price I hoped

"For the price I hoped it had a small bag it would be out into … dine other brands offer a small bag that the jacket / pants can squeeze into for packing into a bigger bag fir hunting … sleeves are a bit tight … kinda a snug fit , l am 202 pounds reasonably fit , fyi not sure l wound buy your gear again"

So far so good!

"I have been looking into a very good rain jacket for a while. Had a cheap Northface jacket for the last year or two, very lightweight and somewhat effective. Finally decided to purchase this Kutana jacket. It was really put to the test this past weekend. Watched multiple lacrosse games in steady medium rain. All of my clothes beneath jacket remained completely dry. Now I shall order the pants soon! I weigh 185#, 5-11”. The large is big enough I was able to wear a t-shirt, with a long sleeve wool shirt underneath. I was not cramped up. Very comfy. I like the pockets on the front. The extra two pockets up high helped me decide between this jacket and the next model down."

Storm jacket

"Held up well on a VERY windy and wet hike in Scotland. Fit is a tiny bit snug. It was perfect for a sweater underneath but would have been tight for more layers. I am 6’ 175lbs. Nit picking, but the drawstring for the hood has no way to secure it, and it keeps loosening, which was bad heading into high wind. The pit zips are key. Finally, VERY quiet! I was not hunting but it’s the quietest rain jacket I’ve ever worn."

KUIU Katana storm shell jacket

"I’m Really like this jacket and the cut on the arms/ hands is the fine detail you don’t get with other jackets, if I needed to add a warm top and jacket underneath I would possibly go for a XXL . Also brought the Katana storm shell leggings in XL but are perfectly sized ."

— Anthony H. (5/5)

Order a size bigger.

"I would recommend advertising your rain gear as it runs small and advise people to order a size up to allow for clothing underneath the jacket. I had a 2x prior and it fits but does not allow much underneath. I had to order the 3x for clothing to fit."

— Doug B. (4/5)

Looks great

"Looks great and well built. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but will put it to the test in November elk season on the coast of Washington. Rains everyday and I hunt thick brush. For the cost it better keep me dry"

— Britt N. (5/5)

Kutana storm shell jacket

"My first time out wearing the jacket the Cumbrian weather was up to it's usual tricks, very wet! Stalking Red Deer in the lake district is my full time job and after crawling through grass and peat bogs I was still dry as a bone. The only thing that let me down was my trousers, so my next purchase will 100% be the pants to match the jacket. Amazing gear guys, it never ceases to amaze me. Cheers Dan"

Q&A

Many reported a pocket leak. Was this issue fixed?
Any issues with leaking have been resolved.
Curious if this jacket is loud when moving with it on? I bow hunt in Oregon and was wondering what jacket would provide the best water resistance / waterproof while not being loud when moving? Thank you
The Kutana Storm Shell Set is our best combination of lightweight/packable, but extremely durable, but it does have more noise than our other options. The Yukon TR is quieter and more durable than the Kutana and might be the better option for your needs
How quiet is this jacket in terms of walking through brush and when the fabric moves, like raising a gun to aim?
While all rain gear will have some noise, the Kutana Storm Shell is pretty quiet for being 100% waterproof. I personally use it all the time and am strictly a bow hunter for big game.
What would be the best application or product to bring back the waterproof ability for this jacket? Seems to start soaking up water after long periods in rainy weather. Jacket still dries very quickly however.
We recommend the Grangers Wash/Repel or the Grangers Repel Plus Spray.
