Great jacket - balances weight and durability

"After a lot of research I decided on the Kutana jacket. I hunt lower South Island in NZ so plenty of big hills to get up. I needed something that balances durability with weight and this jacket ticks both boxes. I am also a fan of pit zips to dump excess heat when climbing. I usually run a L but after looking at other peoples comments online decided on an XL to give me enough room for a puffer underneath."

"I’ve owned rain gear from several high end brands over the years…some of them pretty good, but I’ve always found something to be lacking. Not with the Kutana! This is the best I’ve owned. The fit is perfect, it’s made of very durable material, and the overall quality is beyond my expectations. I ordered an XL top and L pant as this is my usual sizing so that I can layer underneath. It has a fitted feel, and still leaves room for some layering. Extremely happy with the purchase!"

Nice jacket

"I like the jacket. The design is well-thought out. The only minor complaint I have is that the fabric is pretty stiff. I am hoping that will improve with wear and washing. The way it is now, the corners at the top of the zippers stand straight up and poke me in the chin which is a little annoying."

Tough and packable

"Great jacket with full features and it will keep you dry. These do run small so if you plan on layering for later seasons size up. I had one that I sold due to it being too small for any insulation layers under. They have held up well for hard wet north Idaho hunts."

Can the hood be taken off the jacket?
The hood is not removable
Are these made to wear over outer layers, or in place of?
It is designed to go over layers and is more generously sized so that you can layer in the same size as your other KUIU gear
5’ 11 -205 lb. Would large or XL be the way to go
For chest measurements over 40" we recommend a size L. For chest measurements over 43", we recommend size XL.
