Packable Rain Jacket for Montana SAR Ops

"The jacket fits and feels great. The jacket is lightweight and the fabric is comfortable and not what I expected out of a rain shell. I have already had the opportunity to use it in some heavy rain, and it kept me dry and comfortable. The zippered vents helped manage body heat very well. I purchased the jacket for SAR operations in southcentral Montana, and so far this is exactly what I needed."

For the price I hoped

"For the price I hoped it had a small bag it would be out into … dine other brands offer a small bag that the jacket / pants can squeeze into for packing into a bigger bag fir hunting … sleeves are a bit tight … kinda a snug fit , l am 202 pounds reasonably fit , fyi not sure l wound buy your gear again"

— Rod N. (3/5)

Storm jacket

"Held up well on a VERY windy and wet hike in Scotland. Fit is a tiny bit snug. It was perfect for a sweater underneath but would have been tight for more layers. I am 6’ 175lbs. Nit picking, but the drawstring for the hood has no way to secure it, and it keeps loosening, which was bad heading into high wind. The pit zips are key. Finally, VERY quiet! I was not hunting but it’s the quietest rain jacket I’ve ever worn."

KUIU Katana storm shell jacket

"I’m Really like this jacket and the cut on the arms/ hands is the fine detail you don’t get with other jackets, if I needed to add a warm top and jacket underneath I would possibly go for a XXL . Also brought the Katana storm shell leggings in XL but are perfectly sized ."

— Anthony H. (5/5)

Looks great

"Looks great and well built. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but will put it to the test in November elk season on the coast of Washington. Rains everyday and I hunt thick brush. For the cost it better keep me dry"

— Britt N. (5/5)

Kutana storm shell jacket

"My first time out wearing the jacket the Cumbrian weather was up to it's usual tricks, very wet! Stalking Red Deer in the lake district is my full time job and after crawling through grass and peat bogs I was still dry as a bone. The only thing that let me down was my trousers, so my next purchase will 100% be the pants to match the jacket. Amazing gear guys, it never ceases to amaze me. Cheers Dan"

— Daniel D. (5/5)

All around champ!

"Best all around rain gear money can buy! Lightweight yet durable enough to take anywhere including those challenging trips to Alaska and Canada. I purchased XL jacket and LG bottoms 34" inseam"

— Doug R. (5/5)

Great Rain Jacket

"Bought it for a hunt in the New Mexico Desert with forecasted thunderstorms. It worked great, kept me dry and warm but not too hot in 70 deg F rain."

— Kayden L. (5/5)

Q&A

Can the hood be taken off the jacket?
The hood is not removable
Are these made to wear over outer layers, or in place of?
It is designed to go over layers and is more generously sized so that you can layer in the same size as your other KUIU gear
5’ 11 -205 lb. Would large or XL be the way to go
For chest measurements over 40" we recommend a size L. For chest measurements over 43", we recommend size XL.
