Reviews

Best on the market

"Used it for the first time last week. I packed out a nice 3x2 buck. I had the buck quarter, rifle, extra pants and jacket, spotting scope and tri pod, 3 liters of water, all loaded in. Possibly weighed 80 pounds. The pack stayed comfortable."

— Kenneth P. (5/5)

Great pack, just less room

"Great pack, just less room with the two separate compartments rather than one large one. That is only complaint, but I think over time will learn how to pack correctly with no issues there either. Older style was easier for me to get things done quicker on a kill, take things off and stuff in bag, not have to take 15 minutes to strategically put things in pack before processing animal."

— Greg P. (4/5)

Superior performance

"Kuiu really delivered on this hunting backpack. Extremely functionable, comfortable, relatively lightweight and very well thought out design. If you want the best pack so you can’t focus on your hunt and be well organized. This is a packed to get."

— Jim P. (5/5)

Great pack

"I just returned from an 8 day horseback elk hunt in Hells Canyon. This Icon 6 4500 Divide was perfect for this hunt and my hunts coming up still this season and next year in the Yukon Territory. It gives easy access to items placed in the lid. My breakdown trekking poles fit inside the mesh sleeve and the divide held my spotting scope, tripod and bipod as my rifle was in the scabbard and I still had room for the full set of Chugach rain gear and the full set of my Super Down LT. This is not my first KUIU pack system but the 4500 Divide splits my Icon Pro 3600 and 6000 and is the perfect size in my opinion"

Great Product

"Had a Packout on the first Hunt. Redstag in the mountains. While it took me a while to figure out the "loadextension" and the whole system itself, due to a ton of different cords and buckles it finally worked out and I am amazed by the loaddisribution on the carbon frame. On packout my load was 90-100# and I forgot to use the hipsupport."

"One of the side buckles broke already and the grip stuff on the lumbar pad is already starting to come off. The pack is super comfortable and handles a heavy load very well. I have already packed out 6 elk with it and am happy with it overall."

— Chris B. (4/5)

Spent 9 days in backcountry Colorado

"Packed out 2 bull elk with it. Great choice Just wish bono harness would direct attach to shoulder straps would be great"

— Nick W. (5/5)

Kuiu listened when it came to the new Packs

"I didn’t think KUIU could improve much on the last pack. I was wrong. The 4500 bag has better pockets, tougher straps and clips, and a suspension/frame upgrade that actually carries weight instead of fighting you. Load sits higher, rides quieter, and stays on your hips instead of hanging off your shoulders. Trade the old one in. This is the pack."

— Gary T. (5/5)

Best, most well thought out

"Best, most well thought out bag design I have ever used. It is large enough for most of my overnight backpack hunts. Lots of built in compartments for gear organization. I bought this 4500 and the 8200 for longer trips. Can’t be happier"

Women's icon 6 4500

"An honest review from a dedicated woman who shed hunts, Backcountry big game hunts & does anywhere from 10-20 miles a day with her husband in Coastal & East side Oregon. Honestly the pack itself is super nice, it fits my wife really amazing and distributed the loads amazingly (30-70lb loads, multiple trips). Material is amazing, very light, durable as far as we can tell so far— She needs to beat on it some more & put it through the PNW coastal test(blackberries, devils club, etc) also it has plenty of space/pockets. The not so great part— too much stuff going on. Zippers, zippers & more zippers everywhere, buckles everywhere. The buckles are a pain and when you have been hunting in 20° weather your hands are cold and the flip tabs on the buckles hurt your fingers. The buckle design is slick though. She's 5'-1" & 120lbs with a compact body and DD's(non fakies lol) so she really wishes she had more adjustments somehow in the chest & torso areas. With DD's the chest strap dang near chokes her and she really struggles to unclip it. She can't even squeeze the tabs to get the chest & waste strap undone to get the pack off because they are so dang tight. But honestly it may just need to be broke in more—she shot a huge bull here in Ukiah Oregon Oct 26 and got to really test it out(roughly 50-60 miles on pack so far). We'll make some more adjustments, we still have 4 blacktail tags to fill. We understand a lot goes into R&D, we love kuiu and will always be team kuiu & kuiu strong. So this is not meant to be a bad review, just honest because I want the best for my wife and her body while doing gnarly big game packouts. And she was super bummed she couldn't get it in Verde lol. She sold her brand new Exo k4 because she likes your pack systems better."
