Fits well, warm and quiet

"Haven't been out in the field with these yet, but layers just as advertised. I'm 5'8 170lbs athletic fit and the mediums fit exactly as they should. Everything layered up nice with this jacket being the outer layer of three. I got toasty as I walked around the house; these are very quiet with the pro pant. Quality on these garments is great, very good feel to them. Looking forward to getting out in the woods this fall."

Just returned from a successful CO elk hunt

"I just returned from an over-the-counter elk hunt in Colorado where the weather mixed rain, sleet, and snow with temps ranging from 20–40°F. I wore the Encounter Jacket as my primary outer layer and was impressed with how it performed. On the hike into my hunting spot the jacket never overheated me. It breathed well enough that I stayed comfortable while moving, which is something a lot of softshells struggle with. Once I settled in and sat for hours, it kept me warm and, most importantly, kept my core dry through the wet conditions. For a jacket that isn’t fully insulated, it struck a really good balance between warmth when static and breathability when active. In the mixed precipitation we had, it did a solid job shedding moisture and protecting my core. The Verde pattern worked well in the terrain I was in. Overall I’m very happy with the purchase. It handled the variable Colorado mountain weather better than I expected for an uninsulated softshell. I’ll definitely be using it again for early- to mid-season hunts and any time I need a quiet, breathable outer layer that can handle various weather."

Great Mid Season Jacket

"Just spent my first weekend in the field with this jacket. I do like this jacket and will leave it in the line up. I was stand hunting in a range of temps from low 30's to mid 50's. I had to layer up pretty good on the cold mornings to stay warm, and the jacket doesn't block wind too well. I apprecated not sweating like crazy going to and from the stand. The armpits are a tad tight with the vents closed. The only other gripe I have is a minor thing. I think the zippers on the armpit vents should be revearsed. Easy to unzip but difficult to zip back up without a ton of movement. Normally I'm going to open the vents at camp and try to zip back up after in stand. I like that zip to be eazy when 20' up and trying to minimize movement. Kind of a silly thing, but I did notice that being an annoyance."

Q&A

For those who like to layer into late season- how cold can this jacket go with 2 merino layers and the strong fleece 235 hoodie? I’m hoping to push this jacket into late season in MN. Temps in the teens to 20’s.
With that layering, the Encounter Jacket should work well while sitting in temps between 28-30. If you're actively moving, it would work well from teens to 20s.
