Not quiet but I love the fit

"I wouldn't bow hunt with it inside of 40yd but if you're 100yd+, the sound won't be an issue. I have bigger shoulders and there's plenty of room for layering. I could probably size down to a large if my shoulders and back were just a bit more narrow. The jacket has an athletic cut to it with sinches at the waist and two on the hood (nice touch on the hood). Will likely buy in more colors"

Great Jacket

"The jacket is comfortable and warm on the crisp early mornings and provides a perfect outer layer when glassing on cold days. Combined with Kuiu's layering system it is a great addition to my pack since it is packable and lightweight. Only drawback is tgat I am always a borderline size guy and it runs a touch long in the arms and its bulk for my size but I don't think a medium would've worked for me."

So good I got it twice

"It’s rare for me to find a piece of gear worth writing a review about, and it’s even rarer for me to replace a piece with the exact same one when the time comes. I originally got my first axis thermal hybrid as a gift from my wife for Christmas a few years ago. At that time, I was a hair “porkier” you could say. I’ve since lost some weight and have now slipped down into a large from an xl. All my other “too big” Kuiu gear has been swapped for other pieces from Kuiu, but none of them for the exact same piece. None of them, except the axis thermal hybrid. I’ve tried for YEARS to find a soft shell-esque jacket worth packing and using. This summer as I began inventorying things to replace, I realized that this was the ONLY piece that had been on every single hunting, scouting, and fishing trip in the last few years. That’s not to say my other gear doesn’t get used, but certain pieces get cycled in and out depending on conditions and time of year. But this one goes everywhere. It works as a standalone over just a base layer, or as the final piece stacked on top of others when it’s snowy and cold. It blocks the wind incredibly well, it’s durable, and it packs down well in my pack when I need it to. If a guy can only own one piece of gear from Kuiu, I’ll make it easy: make it the Axis Thermal Hybrid."

Q&A

The layering portion notes it can fit over a light mid-layer fleece. Would you need to size up with wearing a StrongFleece 275 or 235 instead of say a Peloton 200? Thanks.
You should be just fine to stick with your normal size when wearing the StrongFleece items as well
Is it nosey
The Axis Thermal Hybrid Hooded Jacket is not too loud, but it does have some noise. If you are looking for a silent piece we would highly recommend the Proximity Hooded Jacket.

The hood is not removeable.
Does does pack down like a puffy for storage in a pack?
The Axis Thermal does not pack down like the down jacket options.

Is the insulated sections modeled after the Element jacket? If yes, then is the camo portions of the garment modeled after the Axis Hybrid Softshell Jacket? If yes to both, then is this a combination of the Axis jacket and the Element jacket?
That's correct- the face fabric and insulation on the insulated portions of the Axis Hybrid Thermal are the same as the Elements.
