Reviews

Perfect for NZ conditions

"Perfect hunting tent. Lightweight, stands up to heavy rain and has enough space for all my gear. You wouldn’t fit another adult in it comfortably but I’m big guy. I’m very happy with the purchase."

More tents should be designed like this.

"I don't understand why more top mountaineering and backpacking brands dont design tents like this? It's like they've never slept out in bad weather before. This tent makes sense. Pitch the fly! That's where you need the stability and structure. There are guy out points wherever you need them. Hats off to the team at Kuiu. Clearly they actually get out and use this stuff. They're definitely thinking. Well done guys."

Wayne D. (5/5)

Easy

"Light, easy set up. Plenty of of room for my wife and I."

Marty B. (5/5)

More red than orange

"The color is more red than orange, and it’s not the easiest tent to assemble. The material doesn’t feel to sturdy. We will see how it holds up on my backpacking trip."

Q&A

Will the Mountain Star 2 ever be sold with carbon poles again?
We have not been informed if or when the Carbon Fiber Poles might return, but we would be happy to inform the team that there is still interest!
Are the poles pre curved or straight. Is pole group approx 18 in. Which has best reports, alum or carbon. Is fly connected to body by Velcro. After wet trip special drying instructions.
The poles are straight and are about 18" long. The carbon is the most popular, but both options perform great! After a wet trip you will want to set the tent up in a dry place to air out and can wipe additional moisture off the tent to speed up the process.
Can the inner mesh tent be removed or added quickly? Those that own this, do you just take it down and roll it up all together with the inner tent still attached to the fly? If so, how does that affect it when rolling it up wet? And if wet, what it like when you set it back up? I’m used to separating my soaking wet fly from the tent when moving from day to day. Thanks
Yes, this can be rolled up together. If wet, we recommend shaking out as much water as possible before rolling it up.
