FEATURES

  • The KUIU Pack System Bags (PRO, PRO LT, PRO Divide) are built to fit on the same Carbon Fiber Frame, using the exact same attachment points. You can swap on any PRO, PRO LT, or Divide PRO using the same frame and PRO suspension. Purchasing one frame and suspension and choosing your desired bag size can cover you from short day hunts to extended expeditions.

  • The focus of the PRO pack line is to offer you a feature-rich pack that provides durability and organization with a low weight penalty. Utilizing a durable 500 Denier CORDURA® fabric, extensive internal and external pocketing, heavy-duty #10 YKK zippers, Hypalon Anchored compression straps, and an internal lashing system provide the perfect pack for demanding hunts.

The focus of the PRO LT pack line is to minimize weight without sacrificing durability, performance, and functionality. A simplistic design and a 330 Denier High Tenacity CORDURA® fabric keep the weight low as possible.

  • The patented California-made KUIU Carbon Fiber Frame represents a significant step forward in the comfort and performance of backpacking frames. The internal structure of the KUIU Carbon Fiber Frame has changed significantly with the introduction of Spread Tow carbon fiber technology.

Traditional carbon fiber fabric construction uses round strands of carbon fiber woven together into a sheet, giving it the signature checkerboard look. With Spread Tow technology, the carbon fibers are flattened, laid parallel, and stitched together, providing increased strength by eliminating pockets of weaker resin material.

Spread Tow sheet angles can be offset to change the rigidity and performance of the fabric. The patented, molded KUIU Carbon Fiber Frame includes a complex internal structure of foam core, offset and straight Spread Tow layers, and stacked truss supports to optimize strength and flex as needed throughout the frame. At a mere 11 oz., the KUIU Carbon Fiber Frame, included in the Pack system, is a must-have for any mountain hunter.

  • The PRO Suspension is offered in two sizes. S/M fits waist size up to 34” and an L/XL that fits a 34” up to a 52”. When choosing your hip belt size, don’t forget to consider layers for total waist size.

  • Frame size is based on your torso length. We offer three different frame sizes to fit a wide range of torso heights. Our shortest frame is the Regular, which fits up to a 17” torso. The Tall fits 17” – 19” torsos and the Extra Tall fits torso lengths 19” and up.

If your torso height is proportionate to your standing height, use the sizing range below:

    Regular – Shorter than 5’ 10” / 178 cm
    Tall – Between 5’ 10” – 6’ 1” / 178-185 cm
    X-Tall – Taller than 6’ 1” / 185 cm

  • To correctly measure your torso, place your hands on the top of your hips with your thumbs pointing toward each other across your lower back in a straight line. Measure from that line up your spine to your 5th vertebra. The 5th vertebra is the large, protruding bone at the base of your neck. This length is the measurement you will use to choose the correct frame size. Learn more.

  • We advise loading your pack with 20-30 lbs. for proper fitting. Loosen the waist belt, shoulder straps, load lifters completely, and then put the pack on.

    STEP 1:
With the top of your hip bones roughly centered or just slightly below the center of the hip belt, tighten it as if you were about to begin a hike.

STEP 2: Snug the shoulder straps down enough to provide solid tension without causing the waist belt to slide up from its position on the hips. Connect the sternum strap and tighten it to the desired fit. Up to this point, the load lifters should still be completely loose.

STEP 3: Now reach up behind your ears and slowly engage the load lifter straps until all slack is out of the webbing, but do not overtighten. Use a mirror to check for constant, gentle contact between the shoulder straps and your body from the back to the collar bone area. A small gap here or there is okay, but no more than a finger-width.

If a significant gap appears above or on the backside of the shoulder, remove the pack and move the shoulder straps down on the frame. On the other hand, if the shoulder straps are pressing hard over the shoulders and the waist belt feels like it wants to slide up your torso, the shoulder straps likely need to be moved up on the frame. These upward and downward adjustments are made by simply separating the hook & loop portion and sliding the shoulder straps in the T-Lock slot.

We recommend adjusting in 1-inch increments to fine-tune the fit slowly.

STEP 4: When the shoulder straps are correctly adjusted, and the frame size is correct for your torso length, the load lifter straps will be at roughly a 45° angle from your collar bone area up to the top of the frame stay.

If the load lifter angle is too flat, you may need to go up in frame size. On the contrary, a load lifter angle too steep may mean you need to go down in frame size. These load lifter angle details should not be analyzed until the proper shoulder strap contact scenario described above is achieved.

FUNCTION

  • All our PRO, PRO LT and PRO Divide bags are interchangeable on the Carbon Fiber Frame and PRO Suspension.

    STEP 1:
Start by unclipping your side compression straps, and load lifter straps from the bag.

    STEP 2:
Unclip the load stabilizer straps at the side of the hip belt and the lower bag attachment straps from the bottom. Your bag should then lift off the upper frame stays.

    STEP 3:
To put the replacement bag on, start with putting the top stays of the frame in the stay pockets on the top of the bag.

    STEP 4:
Connect the lower bag attachment straps and pull till the bag is tight to the frame. Make sure to tighten these straps equally. If one is pulled tight before the other, it can cause the hip belt to rotate and become crooked

    STEP 5:
Reconnect all the rest of the hardware and load lifter straps till the bag is fully secure.

  • Our Load Sling gives you the ability to carry gear, meat, or anything bulky between the frame and the bag. This is handy when your bag is full, and you need to take out a load of meat.

    STEP 1:
The first step is to disengage the load lifter straps that connect the top of the bag to the shoulder straps. Then from the bottom of the pack, slightly loosen the lower bag attachment buckles that pull the bag tight to the frame. Don’t unclip these; just loosen enough to lift the bag off the frame. Disconnect the side compression straps.

    STEP 2:
Keep the bag tighter at the bottom of the frame to make a V shape gap. Place what you’re carrying in the load sling down into the bottom, reconnect the side straps, and pull tight to secure the load. Using the bridge straps (straps going through holes in the top of the frame), connect the load lifter straps to the buckle on the suspension side, and the tale side connects to the bag where the load lifter was connected before. Pull all the straps tight to secure the load, and you are ready to pack out.

  • On the bottom of all PRO, PRO LT and PRO Divide packs, there are webbing loops in each corner of the bottom panel. This allows you to connect your Rifle/Bow Holder on the left, right, or back of the pack. Your Rifle/Bow Holder comes with a top strap with a quick detach buckle to allow you quick access to your weapon. This buckle should be located on the body side of the bag when properly set up.

For Bows, we recommend going through or wrapping this strap higher up on the bow to create downward pressure on the bow to keep your cam secured into the foam buckle.

For Rifles, we recommend making a full wrap around the barrel to prevent the rifle from sliding back and forth.

  • Eight internal webbing loops on the PRO, PRO LT and PRO Divide bags come installed with four extra removable compression straps. This internal lashing system is perfect for securing heavy items close to the frame inside your bag.

  • Yes. If the extra space of the top lid is not required, it may be removed. Unbuckle or unclip the top-lid compression straps and remove the slotted clip from the webbing loop. Cinch the top of the bag tight and stuff the cording inside the bag.

  • Washing your pack is easy and cleaning it often will reduce scent and noise. First, empty your pack, secure all hook-and-loop tabs, and completely disconnect the bag, shoulder straps, and waist belt from the Carbon Fiber Frame. You may wash the bag and suspension by hand or in a washing machine. Wash with cold water, on a gentle cycle, with a mild detergent like our  Grangers Clothing Wash + Repel. Hang dry the pack to avoid any unnecessary wear and tear.

To maintain the water-resistance of your pack, treat it with Granger’s Performance Repel Plus Spray.

The Frame may be cleaned with mild soap and water.

  • This is most likely due to having the lower bag attachment straps hooked up to the incorrect loops on the bottom of the bag. If you look up the back of the pack another 4”, another set of loops will give you enough pull to tighten the bag and prevent it from coming off the top. You will only have this issue on pre-2017 ICON Pro and ULTRA packs.

  • Due to hardware updates to our 2017 packs, you may need to contact customer service to acquire the appropriate adapter kit for your pack. If you purchase a new 2017 ICON Pro or ULTRA bag to put onto a pre-2017 suspension, you will need to get an adapter kit #1. If you purchase a new 2017 ICON Pro or ULTRA suspension to use with a pre-2017 ICON Pro or ULTRA bag, you will need to get an adapter kit #2. If you need further assistance on which adapter kit is appropriate for your current setup, please email pictures of the hardware to service@kuiu.com, and we will make sure to get you the parts.
