AK SPRING BEAR
When bowhunting for bears, get the wind right, and close the gap as fast as you can. Bears do not have the same sense of fear that most prey animals and ungulates have. This makes them easier to stalk than a big buck or ram, but their nose is second to none. Even the slightest whiff of a human can cause them to run over the next mountain. The rut in most areas starts the last week of May and goes through the middle of June. This is typically the best time for a bowhunter looking to arrow a big spring bear.
